Teenage worker killed in Sunderland port accident

A teenage worker was killed when he was struck by machinery at the Port of Sunderland.

The victim, aged 19, was working at the port’s South Docks yesterday when the piece of metal fell on him, leaving him with fatal chest injuries.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating the incident.
