Ipswich manufacturer fined after worker injured

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reports that Crane Ltd, Viking Johnson's parent company of West Road, Ipswich has been fined after an employee suffered multiple injuries when two quarter tonne steel flange rings fell on him.

The pipe coupling manufacturer admitted breaching Regulation 4 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 - for which it was fined £15,000 - and Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety At Work etc. Act 1974, with a fine of £10,000. The company was ordered to pay £3,387.25 in prosecution costs.
