The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reports that, from September this year, the majority of work-related injuries and incidents reportable under RIDDOR will have to be notified to the HSE via its website (fatal and major incidents and injuries will still be reportable by 'phone).
In a further step to improve efficiency, HSE's Infoline telephone service will end on 30 September 2011. After that date, businesses and members of the public looking for information and guidance on health and safety can use HSE's website.
The HSE states that its website receives "100 times more visitors than Infoline has callers" but, as the website receives 26 million visits each year, this equates to 260,000 callers who will no longer be able to get help directly from Infoline.
