Two security guards suffered serious facial burns after an explosion at the Welbeck Colliery site at Meden Vale on 31 December.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is investigating the incident along with police and the fire service as the source of the explosion at an electrical sub station at the site remains unclear.
