An outbreak of E. coli linked to contaminated vegetables has caused at least 18 deaths and now hundreds of infections in Germany, Sweden and other countries.
It is believed to have spread through Europe from tainted salad vegetables, with contamination suspected to have occurred at some point during the long journey from farm to store.
