Four hurt as cloud of toxic gas escapes from chemical plant

Four workers suffered burns and toxic inhalation injuries when two tonnes of titanium tetrachloride escaped from a chemical plant. Local residents were urged to keep windows and doors shut.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is investigating the incident.

Worker killed in landfill site explosion

A construction worker was killed in Beirut after a bomb workers found exploded. Two other workers were injured.

Firm faces woman's lift death trial

ThyssenKrupp Elevator UK Ltd will appear at Southwark Crown Court charged with breaking health and safety law on four counts; following the death of Katarzyna Woja in a lift at Broadgate Health Club, central London, in March 2003.
