Food firm fined after worker injured

An international frozen food company has been fined after a worker was injured by the moving blades of an industrial freezer.

Waldersley Farms has been fined £10,000 and ordered to pay costs of £2,223 after an October 2009 incident in which a worker suffered electrical burns. The Cambridgeshire firm admitted breaching Regulation 4(3) of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

Fork lift truck operator training - HSE target

Peter Lennon, the HSE's Head of Workplace Transport, told the annual National Fork Lift Safety Conference that fork lift truck operator training is an area of particular concern for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
