Temporary worker badly scalded

FMC Chemicals Ltd has been fined after a temporary worker was badly scalded while using steam to unblock pipes containing lithium chloride in June 2008. The firm had already been issued with a warning after a worker was burned during maintenance work in 2007.

£200,000 fine after Kent worker falls to his death

A plant hire company has been fined £200,000 for health and safety failings that lead to an employee falling five metres to his death.

An international metal-processing company has been fined £12,500 after one of its workers was run over by a forklift truck in Bolton. The 54-year-old broke three toes, fractured several bones in his foot, and suffered extensive skin, muscle and tissue damage.
